Playgrounds for Animals Series
Clay, tape, 35 x 35 x 5 cm, 2018
I began my research into synanthropy in 2018 and am pursuing it in a variety of cities. Berlin features an open-air swimming pool in the district of Kreuzberg that is surrounded by a large park. At certain times of day, dozens of rabbits emerge from the bushes at the edges of the park to forage for food undisturbed amidst the sunbathers and other users of the park. Inspired by this tolerant example of interspecies cohabitation in an urban environment, I have elected to create a series of sculptures of rabbits in connection with specific architectural elements.
